Kelly was born in Southern California, an only son to Michael and Vicki Carr. After 3rd grade, his family moved to Texarkana TX, as his dad had accepted a position in federal law enforcement. Kelly attended TISD schools, but graduated, from Northside Christian Academy.
While briefly attending Texarkana College,
Kelly found his professional calling in music. He and several other musicians formed the band, PILOTDRIFT. The band had successful tours around the US and Canada with such well-known bands as Eisley, Supergrass, Guster, and The Polyphonic Spree. Their music was also used for TV in TLC's The Deadliest Catch, and The Messengers. Kelly continues to write and record, with a third album on the back burner while his other pursuits take priority.
In July of 2007, Kelly married Heather Clark, daughter of Mickey and Sheila Clark. Heather is nationally certified as a teacher of fine art. She has taught at College Hill Elementary for eight years, earning local and state recognition for her creative and educational expertise. In 2016, Heather was named Teacher of the Year for TASD and the SW Arkansas region.
Heather's success in and love for teaching has inspired Kelly. He has returned to college to complete his bachelor's degree in elementary education, with an emphasis in music. His aim is to be an elementary music teacher, sharing his love and talent with young students.
In 2011, Kelly and Heather were blessed with the birth of a little girl, Lucy Scot Carr, who is now in kindergarten. In 2016, Daisy Leigh Carr was born, a longed-for addition to the young family.
